<ns1:description language="en">This thesis investigates possible parallels between magic and contemporary art in the field of social practice. Two essays from the French social sciences serve as a starting point: Outline of a General Theory of Magic by Marcel Mauss and Henri Hubert (1903) and Le Paradigme de l‘art contemporain (2014) by Nathalie Heinich. The reading of these two texts clarifies comparable social anthropological mechanisms. This study aims to deepen this observation by analysing numerous examples from the fields of magic and art and determining whether these two practices meet a similar social need.</ns1:description>
