The process of creating an archive that operates as a platform for exchange and communication is outlined such that, on the one hand, artistic archival positions are presented and analysed and, on the other hand, theories of the archive are discussed. The Master’s Thesis is conceived as a preparatory work for the creation of a specific archive, namely, the narrational archive. This archive, understood to be in the process of emerging, draws upon the power of narrative as a cultural technique and aims to establish a continuously growing repertoire of (hi)stories. Drawing upon the approaches of a critical educational practice, this mobile archive facilitates discursive spaces in exhibitions, in public space or in schools where the archival practice of the narrational archive is open for discussion. At the same time, the archive is enriched by personal written (hi)stories. Die vorliegende Arbeit betrachtet unabhängige, nichtstaatliche Dokumentations- und Archivprojekte als Interventionen in gesellschaftliche Strukturen und als Generatoren eines vielstimmigen Geschichtsverständnisses. Der Weg zu einem Archiv, das als Austausch- und Kommunikationsplattform fungiert, wird skizziert, indem einerseits künstlerische Archivpositionen vorgestellt und analysiert und andererseits Theorien des Archivs besprochen werden. Die Masterthesis versteht sich als Vorarbeit zur Gestaltung eines konkreten Archivs, nämlich des Erzählenden Archivs. Dieses im Entstehen begriffene Archiv bedient sich der Kraft des Erzählens als Kulturtechnik und hat zum Ziel, ein immer weiter anwachsendes Geschichtenrepertoire aufzubauen. Mittels Ansätzen einer kritischen Kulturvermittlungspraxis geht es bei diesem mobil konzipierten Archiv um die Ermöglichung von diskursiven Räumen in Ausstellungen, im öffentlichen Raum oder in Schulen, wo zum einem die archivarische Praxis des Erzählenden Archivs zur Diskussion gestellt und zum anderen das Archiv mit persönlichen Geschichte(n) bereichert wird.
