<lom:langstring xml:lang="en">This manuscripts deliberates over our place in the nano-space through building connections between spaces of different scales. Starting with our relation with materials, the instruments, and methods we use in science to study them, it goes through a journey of seeking for meaning, sense, and empathy, ultimately landing onto the thought that the experience of scientific practice itself could be a work of art. As done with the very instrument of focus in this work, the scanning electron microscope, it scans through six different frames, to be stacked up in the end to form the final image: “Matter Matters”, “Worlds within Worlds: Magnitudes, Rooms and Scale-Hopping”, “In Love with the Machine”, “Now You See, Now You Don’t: Sense It All / Know It All”, “Shedding It All Off: the Scientist as Alice, Science as Experience, Experience as Art”, and “Intimacy and Empathy”. It closes with prospects and reflections on relations between science and art. </lom:langstring>
