<dc:description xml:lang="en">The diploma thesis is about multigenerational housing with focus on social interaction. Nowadays we almost don’t have the family situations anymore, where all generations live together in the same house. The multigenerational houses concept tries to re-include social relations between people of different ages to profit from each other. One goal is to be more independent from public institutions like childcare facilities or retirement homes.
Therefore a new kind of housing typology is needed to intensify the social interaction between residents. The structure of residential buildings usually doesn’t support interaction and there are spatial boundaries like floor slabs that are isolating various floor levels. The project aims for a spatial gradient from public to intimate zones. It also deals with clustering, grouping, sub-grouping and so on to create distinguished relations on various hierarchy levels. Continuous vertical space and movement between shared zones are as crucial as using different housing typologies for various urban contexts and shared programs along every circulation path.</dc:description>
