Untersuchung-Technologie-Restaurierung-Neunutzung Baroque and Early Classical Tile Stoves from Schloss Hof in the collection of the Museum of Applied Arts Vienna: analysis ˆ technology ˆ restoration ˆ new usage Summary The three 18th-century tile stoves from Schloss Hof, subject of this diploma thesis, have been in the Museum of Applied Arts since 1928 where they were stored dismantled. The conservation assessment of the three stoves is the starting point of this thesis. One stove, dating from 1770/80, was chosen for a model restoration and will be re-erected at Schloss Hof in its original position. A technique was developed enabling the stoves to be dismantled and re-assembled. Research regarding the original location, re-installation and integration of these stoves within the existing heating system is also featured in this thesis. Comprehensive scientific analysis was used to determine which pieces were original to the stove. In addition, missing elements were reconstructed to create an aesthetical unity to original stove parts.
