"Les Mots" may roughly be divided into two parts: the map and the tool. The tool to collect the connections between terms is the "associative chain". "Les Mots" randomly chooses a term and asks the user to input her first association to it. Furtheron the next association to this and so forth. The topography of the map is created by a pseudophysikal model: between connected terms a spring is spun with the relative power of the frequency of associations. Les Mots "Les Mots"zeigt eine 2-dimensionale Anordnung an durch Linien verbundenen Punkten. "Les Mots" läßt sich grob in zwei Hälften teilen: die Karte und das Werkzeug, um sie zu erstellen. Werkzeug/Sonde, um die Verbindungen der Begriffe zu erfassen ist die Assoziationskette. „Les Mots“ wählt zufällig aus dem bereits Bekannten einen Begriff und bittet den User, ihm die erste Assoziation dazu zu nennen. Daraufhin die nächste Assoziation zu dem dadurch erhaltenen Begriff, usw..
