Such is the potential of the alternate history genre. And so, “what if?”, becomes the ultimate speculation. This work by Lazar Djordjevic presents an alternate history imagination where Europe is not the preeminent power of the globe, as it was for the past 500 years. Indeed those nations of the African continent, Japan, and Mesoamerica, are the centers of technological and cultural development. The pure functions of power are laid bare precisely due to the ease in which we can imagine alternative forms of it. As the old saying might go: “Same shit, but in different packaging”.
