<lom:langstring xml:lang="en">The paradigm of China’s rural architectural development is constantly shifting. In past few decades, people lived in the ideal communist commune to share and connect in the nature, then moved to a massive socialist version of wealthy western suburb that detach from nature. And now nearly two million of online merchandiser from remote area are connected virtually and return to the nature. It is the strange moment.
We witness the significant decreasing of the population of the rural area and at the same time, the increasing of the physical existence of building. Information flexibility and equality is reducing the in the rural area, as the result of the censorship and content control, but the materialized space for data grows fastest in the world. As the result of reification of the new information capital, nature and human's habitation have been removed and give way to data's habitation, the highly guarded mechanisms of a black box, a fully automated architecture machine, or more commonly known as the data center. In the next few years, many of rural residents will confront this new architecture type directly. This thesis aims to bring the data center into the discourse of China rural architecture's development, to analyse its historical and material connection and ensure that the new rural architecture is sustainable for human, could function as robust, networked information and economic centers while still maintain the connection with nature.</lom:langstring>
