But if you look behind the scenes and considering the technical effort, these areas have to be described as sport-industry landscapes. As one example of such an area stands the ski area Gröden in South Tyrol with its ski slope “Saslong“. The diploma thesis shows the industrial aspect of a reputed natural landscape. The approach is to make this kind of landscape tangible and perceptible in form of a Sport-Industry-Garden. An area of 500 x 500 meter in the existing ski slope is prescind. The design in this area only usees seemingly natural elements like the vegetation, the topography and the rocks, things that produce the cliché image of the skiers. Those materials will be transformed and ordered in a way so they will lose their natural and idyllic character. It is a display which looks completely artificial and shows the real character of this Landscape. „Skifahren in herrlicher Natur und bezauberndem Panorama“, könnte ein Slogan von Winterskigebieten sein. Blickt man aber hinter die Kulissen und bezieht den technischen Aufwand mit ein, so stellt sich die Frage, ob es sich nicht doch um eine Industrielandschaft handelt. Als Beispiel eines solches Gebietes gilt das Skigebiet Gröden in Südtirol mit der Skipiste Saslong. Das Ziel der Diplomarbeit ist es, den industriellen Aspekt einer vermeintlichen Naturlandschaft aufzuzeigen. Um diese Art von Landschaft lesbar zu machen, entwickle ich einen Sport-Industrie-Garten, wofür eine Fläche von 500x500 Meter auf der bestehenden Skipiste herausgenommen wird.
