Beim Lesen von Artikeln und Betrachten dieser Bilder befragt Juan das Denken und Fühlen der Menschen, während sie Massenmedien konsumieren. Juan malte Szenen wie sie in den Massenmedien dargestellt werden, in der Hoffnung, das Medium Malerei könnte den zeitlichen und räumlichen Kontext der Fotos verändern und den Modus purer Beschreibung ablösen. Ihr Ziel ist es, die Zeit zu verändern und zu ernsthafteren Orten hinzuführen, d. h. durch die Malerei an den durch die Fotografie evozierten Standpunkten zu rütteln. Ihre Arbeit zielt somit auf die Schärfung der Wahrnehmung der lebenden Welt. Photos in the daily newspapers and TV are dealing with real incidents that happened in peope`s everyday life. By reading articles and contemplating photos everyday, Juan asks for their feelings and their thinking. Juan painted scenes according to the newspaper and pictures by hoping that the paintings could change the photos’ time and space and also their simple describing way. She wants to prolong the photo‘s time and to lead to more serious spaces. Juan aims to change the attitude towards the photos in mass media through paintings in order to sharpen the perception for the living world.
