Today, means Katharina Ilieff, ceramics has reached a point where it became unvisible in the sense of taken for granted in its daily use. Ilieff is asking for the visibility of ceramics and its history. And she finds the realisation process of all important components as answer – aesthetical as well as practical ones. Ilieffs work is a result of this process – a light object made of Augarten porcelain with clear forms that shall express her thoughts. Die Geschichte der Keramik reicht bis in die Zeit v. Chr. zurück. Heutzutage hat, meint Katharina Ilieff, die Keramik einen Punkt erreicht, an dem sie „unsichtbar“ im Sinne von selbstverständlich im alltäglichen Gebrauch geworden sei – von der Kaffeetasse über den Essteller bis hin zum Waschbecken etc. Die Liste ist lang. Ilief fragt, wie diese Geschichte und die Keramik wieder sichtbar werden. Als Antwort findet sie die Bewusstmachung all jener Komponenten an den Objekten, die in ihrer Verwendung sowie ihrer Ästhetik für den Betrachter/die Betrachterin von Relevanz sind.
