University of Applied Arts Vienna Repetuum Mobile An installation in a room oscillates – in continuous motion. Two graphic figures made of flat steel and mirroring one another are mounted on the wall, their sharp tapered ends connected with a multi-coloured elastic cord. The steel arms swing toward and away from each other reach a span of up to two metres. Through this opening and closing movement the cord is stretched and then relaxed once again. In this strict monotone oscillation, the multi-coloured elastic cord generates an unpredictable momentum. Its tension catapults the steel objects back into their circular path. What results is a loop that resembles a perpetuum mobile through its self-regulation. In einem Raum schwingt eine Installation – in stetiger Bewegung – an der Wand. Zwei grafische Figuren aus Flachstahl wurden spiegelverkehrt zueinander angebracht. Die spitz zulaufenden Enden der Stahlobjekte sind mit einem vielfärbigen Spanngummi verbunden. Die Stahlteile schwingen zu- und gegeneinander. Sie nehmen dabei eine Spannweite von zwei Metern ein. Durch die öffnende und schließende Bewegung wird der Gummi gespannt und wieder entlastet. In dieser streng monotonen Schwingung entsteht mittels des mehrfärbigen Spanngummis ein unvorhersehbares Moment. Durch seine Spannung werden die Stahlobjekte in ihre kreisförmige Bahn zurück katapultiert. Ein Loop, der aufgrund seiner Selbstregulation einem Perpetuum Mobile ähnelt.
