Dabei liegt die Konstruiertheit der Behinderung im Fokus und soll auf die Trennung zwischen dem als ‚normal‘ geltenden und dem als ‚anders‘ markierten Individuum, und der damit verbundenen Vorstellung der Normativität, verweisen. Dies führt zu einer Ablehnung von Menschen mit Behinderung und zu einer behindertenfeindlichen Kultur, was auch innerhalb der Sphäre des Tanzes, welche einen starken Fokus auf Körperlichkeit hat, spürbar wird. Das Forschungsinteresse liegt in der Analyse von Machtstrukturen innerhalb von Bühnensituationen und der Bedeutung und Repräsentation körperlicher Behinderung im Tanz. In weiterer Folge werden die Potentiale einer Crip Choreography, nach der Definition des Tänzers und Choreografen Michael Turinsky, herangezogen, um alternative Sichtweisen auf Tanz und Behinderung zu ermöglichen. Die Arbeit argumentiert, dass Tanz und Choreografie das Potential haben, Normen aufzubrechen, und die Reflexion über den Körper zur Überwindung von normativen Vorstellungen führen kann. Das Material zur Analyse von choreografischen Strategien besteht aus einer Videoaufzeichnung der Aufführung Heteronomous male (2012) von Michael Turinsky sowie der Teilnahme an zwei Choreografie- und Tanzworkshops unter der Leitung von Turinsky (2023). Die Arbeit lässt sich in drei Teile gliedern: die theoretische Rahmung und Verortung, die spezifische Betrachtung der Bedingungen der Bühne im Zusammenhang mit körperlicher Behinderung und die Zusammenführung von Theorie und künstlerischer Praxis unter dem Gesichtspunkt der Crip Choreography. In this thesis, the topic of disability is considered as a cultural, social, and political issue and placed in relation to dance. The focus lies on the constructed nature of disability and is intended to point to the separation between the individual who is considered ‘normal’ and the individual who is marked as ‘different’, and the associated notion of normativity. This leads to a rejection of people with disabilities and to an ableist culture, which is also noticeable within the sphere of dance, which has a strong focus on physicality. The research interest lies in the analysis of power structures within stage situations and the meaning and representation of physical disability in dance. Subsequently, the potentials of Crip Choreography, as defined by dancer and choreographer Michael Turinsky, are used to provide alternative perspectives on dance and disability. The work argues that dance and choreography have the potential to break down norms and that reflection on the body can lead to overcoming normative ideas. The material reviewed to analyze choreographic strategies is a video recording of the performance Heteronomous male (2012) by Michael Turinsky as well as participation in two choreography and dance workshops led by Turinsky (2023). The work can be divided into three parts: the theoretical framing and localization, the specific consideration of the conditions of the stage in connection with physical disability and the merging of theory and artistic practice from the point of view of Crip Choreography.
