In Anlehnung an ein Großraumbüro versammelt Trouvé in ihrem aus insgesamt dreizehn Modulen, Matrizen und Annexen bestehenden Komplex eine Vielzahl von Dokumenten – von nie abgeschickten Briefen über Personalausweise bis hin zu ganzen Stapeln von Jobabsagen. Im Zusammenspiel der verschiedenen Module, wie dem Administrative Module, dem Waiting Module Annex und dem Archives Module, bildet das B.I.A. ein imaginäres und mentales Unternehmen, das darauf abzielt, die sogenannten impliziten Aktivitäten der Künstlerin zu materialisieren – insbesondere im Hinblick auf die Artikulationen ihrer eigenen Subjektivierung und ihrer künstlerischen Arbeit. Indem das B.I.A. Fragmente aus ihrem Leben, Notizen zu nie abgeschlossenen Projekten und Materialisierungen ihrer Gedanken sammelt, wird es zu einem permanenten Arbeitsprozess, in dem die Aktivität immer bevorsteht, aber nie realisiert wird. Das "Bureau of Implicit Activities" erscheint somit als ein fiktives ‘Büro’, in dem Arbeit, Zeit und Subjektivität konvergieren: ein Ort, an dem Arbeit ausgeführt wird, aber nichts Greifbares entsteht, an dem Zeit vergeht und Subjektivitäten administriert werden. "Part I: Situating the Bureau of Implicit Activities" wird das Projekt in seiner Gesamtheit untersuchen und in einen breiteren kunsttheoretischen Rahmen stellen. Es wird auch das Konzept der unproduktiven Zeit als die vorherrschende Zeitlichkeit des B.I.A. eingeführt. "Part II: The Administrative Module" vertieft die beiden zentralen Themen der künstlerischen Arbeit und der Konstruktion von Subjektivität und analysiert, wie Unproduktivität und Prekarität den strukturellen Rahmen bilden, auf den das B.I.A. ästhetisch reagiert. In her break-through series and long-term project "Bureau of Implicit Activities" (1997–2003), the Italian-French artist Tatiana Trouvé (*1968) assembled a variety of documents – ranging from unsent correspondences to ID cards to whole piles of job rejection letters – into a complex of installations, reminiscent of office cubicles. Comprising thirteen modules, matrices, cells, and annexes (such as the Administrative Module, Waiting Module Annex, and Archives Module), the B.I.A. forms an imaginary and mental enterprise aimed at materialising the artist’s so-called implicit activities – articulations of her own subjectivation and processes of artistic labour. Bringing together fragments of her life, reflections, and in particular the manifestations of her unfinished projects, the B.I.A. forms a permanent laboratory in which activity is, in short, always yet to come, but never realised. The "Bureau of Implicit Activities" emerges as a fictional ‘office’ where labour, time, and subjectivity intersect: a place where work is done but nothing tangible is produced, where time lingers, and where subjectivities are administratively registered. "Part I: Situating the Bureau of Implicit Activities" will explore the project in its entirety, positioning it within a broader art theoret-ical framework. It will also introduce the notions of unproductive time as the prevailing temporality of the B.I.A.
