<ns1:description language="en"> A series of works with a title When A Form Withdraws Itself consists of two speech performances; "To Bite the Tongue. Swallow. Deep. Deeper" and "Aveugle Voix". "To Bite the Tongue. Swallow. Deep. Deeper" shown in the exhibition is an artist book of a documentation of a performance with the same title which has been performed fourteen times by the artist since 2014. In the performance the artist reads a poem without a title in Dicteé, a text work by the artist and writer Theresa Hak Kyung Cha who was born in South Korea and immigrated to the U.S.A. The poem is written in French and English facing each other on opposite pages; at a glance the poem seems a translation work from the French version into the English one but two poems interact each other in order to seek a subtil difference in the space of languages. In the performance three acts are performed simultaneously; the artist hears the poem in French hidden from the audience, speaks the English poem and marks a Korean translation of the poem translated after her death. The audience has no clue what she hears as only she hears the French version (hear, as the artist does not speak French). By playing, fast-forwarding, pausing and rewinding with an analogue reel-to-reel tape recorder, she controls the French recording to achieve the three different acts. In the exhibition "Rethinking“ 56 sheets of paper of a marked copy and a reel-to-reel tape is shown in a book form. The tape is present not as a content to hear but an object.
The performance "Aveugle Voix", a homage to Theresa Hak Kyung Cha is a reenactment of Cha's performance in 1975. In the performance the artist uses two blind folds written "Voix"(voice) and "Aveugle"(blind). Blindfolded and using two analogue voice recorders in turn, the artist speaks a text which is written in different languages—Korean, German, English and French. The performance begins with "far voice"—in Korean two words "blind" and "far" are pronounced in a same way—as a gesture of "measuring" a distance between "blind" and "voice". The act of "Writing“ in which words are rewritten through the gesture of playing, fast-forwarding, pausing and rewinding during the performance accompanies a visual notation exhibited in a pile of paper and offered to the audience to participate in the performance. The props—two blindfolds and two voice recorders—are exhibited with the rest of sheets of paper after the performance. </ns1:description>
<ns1:description language="de"> Die Werkserie mit dem Titel "When A Form Withdraws Itself" besteht aus zwei Arbeiten mit Sprachperformance; "To Bite the Tongue. Swallow. Deep. Deeper" und "Aveugle Voix". "To Bite the Tongue. Swallow. Deep.
