<dc:description xml:lang="en">„Inventur“ is a multimedia installation and an open investigative system that explores the possibilities and limitations of documenting physical spaces. The project is based on an abandoned inn that was examined over the course of several months, with its spatial and material traces translated into different media through 3D scans, photos, dust and scent samples, and audio recordings.

At its core, the work asks whether a place can ever be documented objectively. While the installation deliberately adopts the visual language of scientific documentation and archival practices, it simultaneously reveals that every act of collecting, selecting, and categorizing is shaped by subjective decisions. The choice of which rooms are examined, which objects are “inventoried,” and which traces are preserved is therefore not neutral but reflects an individual perspective.

Within this curated system, visitors themselves assume the role of investigators. They are invited to listen, smell, read, explore digital databases, and physically engage with and recombine different elements. Rather than following a predetermined narrative, they participate in an open process of comparison, association, and interpretation. The collected fragments can continuously be connected in new ways, allowing multiple readings of the abandoned site to emerge.</dc:description>
