This written component examines shame as a social and political mechanism that\nregulates bodies, sexuality, and identity. Contemporary consumer culture and digital media are\nalso analysed as sites where shame is produced and monetised through idealised bod-\nies, gender norms, and lifestyle expectations.\nThe artistic work, developed through the project Shame on Me, investigates embar-\nrassment and bodily exposure through performative strategies that confront viewers\nwith their own reactions to socially regulated behaviour. It draws on an anonymous\ncollection of narratives, forming a montage-like archive that informs the work.\nRather than separating analysis and practice, the thesis operates through their entan-\nglement. Shame appears as something that is both structurally produced and contin-\nuously reproduced in everyday social exchanges through practices of judgment, expo-\nsure, and correction. The research asks how artistic practice can intervene in these\ndynamics by making shame visible and negotiable, and how that can be a crucial part\nof dismantling contemporary regimes of the body.
