Ausgehend von einem autoethnografischen Forschungsansatz analysiert die Arbeit die Prozesse, durch die genealogische Narrative entstehen, Identitäten prägen und Zugehörigkeiten herstellen. Im Zentrum steht die kritische Auseinandersetzung und Dezentralisierung traditioneller Genealogiekonzepte, die Herkünfte vorwiegend über biologische Familienlinien oder nationale Zugehörigkeiten definieren.\nDurch eine mehrsprachige Untersuchung in Deutsch, Englisch, Türkisch und Arabisch werden persönliche Erfahrungen, Erinnerungen und kulturelle Überlieferungen als Erkenntnisquellen erschlossen. Die Arbeit dekonstruiert etablierte Herkunftsmythen, ohne deren Bedeutung für individuelle und kollektive Identitätsbildung zu negieren. Stattdessen expandiert sie den Herkunfts-Begriff um alternative Formen. Exemplarisch werden Arbeits- („labour ancestry“) und Queere-Ahnenlinien („queer ancestry“) als alternative genealogische Narrative untersucht.\nDer schriftliche Teil ist als dialogische Form angelegt, in der theoretische Positionen, mehrsprachige Zitate und persönliche Erzählungen miteinander in Beziehung treten. Ergänzt wird die Forschung durch eine künstlerische Installation, die genealogische Fragmente mittels emblematischen Objekten und Bewegtbild räumlich inszeniert. In Anlehnung an die Logik der Wunderkammer entsteht ein rhizomatisches Netzwerk heterogener Elemente, dessen Bedeutung aus ihren Beziehungen zueinander hervorgeht.\nDie Arbeit argumentiert, dass Genealogie nicht als statische Herkunft verstanden werden sollte, die es freizulegen gilt, sondern als kulturelle Formation, die untersucht, hinterfragt und künstlerisch neu imaginiert werden kann."}]},{"@type":"bf:Note","skos:prefLabel":[{"@language":"eng","@value":"This doctoral thesis investigates the phenomenon of ancestral-mythologies and their influence on both individual and collective constructions of subjectivity. Utilising an autoethnographic approach, the study examines the processes through which genealogical narratives are produced, maintained and expanded. It critically engages with dominant understandings of genealogy that primarily define ancestry through biological family lineages or nation-state affiliations.\nThrough a multilingual exploration in English, German, Turkish and Arabic, personal experiences, memories and cultural narratives are employed as sources of knowledge. The thesis deconstructs and decentralises established ancestral mythologies while acknowledging their significance in shaping identities and forms of belonging. Rather than rejecting these categories of genealogy, it proposes an expanded understanding of ancestry by introducing and exemplary genealogical frameworks. In particular, labour- and queer-ancestry are explored as exemplary mythologies that challenge conventional notions of ancestry.\nThe written component is structured as a dialogue in which theoretical perspectives, multilingual quotations and personal narratives interact with each other. Complementing the textual research, a multi-part artistic installation materialises the investigation through emblematic objects and moving images. Drawing on the historical logic of the Wunderkammer, the installation assembles heterogeneous artefacts into a rhizomatic network in which meaning emerges through proximity and relationality.\nThe thesis argues that genealogy should not be understood as a fixed ancestry waiting to be uncovered but as a cultural formation that can be critically examined, questioned and artistically reimagined."}]}],"dce:subject":[{"@type":"skos:Concept","skos:prefLabel":[{"@language":"eng","@value":"artistic research"}]},{"@type":"skos:Concept","skos:prefLabel":[{"@language":"eng","@value":"humanities"}]},{"@type":"skos:Concept","skos:prefLabel":[{"@language":"eng","@value":"ancestry"}]},{"@type":"skos:Concept","skos:prefLabel":[{"@language":"eng","@value":"queer"}]},{"@type":"skos:Concept","skos:prefLabel":[{"@language":"eng","@value":"class"}]},{"@type":"skos:Concept","skos:prefLabel":[{"@language":"eng","@value":"working class"}]},{"@type":"skos:Concept","skos:prefLabel":[{"@language":"eng","@value":"diaspora"}]},{"@type":"skos:Concept","skos:prefLabel":[{"@language":"eng","@value":"gay"}]},{"@type":"skos:Concept","skos:prefLabel":[{"@language":"eng","@value":"migration"}]},{"@type":"skos:Concept","skos:prefLabel":[{"@language":"eng","@value":"identity"}]},{"@type":"skos:Concept","skos:prefLabel":[{"@language":"eng","@value":"pop culture"}]},{"@type":"skos:Concept","skos:prefLabel":[{"@language":"eng","@value":"genocide"}]},{"@type":"skos:Concept","skos:prefLabel":[{"@language":"eng","@value":"turkey"}]},{"@type":"skos:Concept","skos:prefLabel":[{"@language":"eng","@value":"armenia"}]},{"@type":"skos:Concept","skos:prefLabel":[{"@language":"eng","@value":"germany"}]},{"@type":"skos:Concept","skos:prefLabel":[{"@language":"eng","@value":"ancestor"}]},{"@type":"skos:Concept","skos:prefLabel":[{"@language":"eng","@value":"religion"}]},{"@type":"skos:Concept","skos:prefLabel":[{"@language":"eng","@value":"auto-ethnography"}]},{"@type":"skos:Concept","skos:prefLabel":[{"@language":"eng","@value":"story-telling"}]},{"@type":"skos:Concept","skos:prefLabel":[{"@language":"eng","@value":"intersectionality"}]},{"@type":"skos:Concept","skos:prefLabel":[{"@language":"eng","@value":"queer studies"}]}],"dce:title":[{"@type":"bf:Title","bf:mainTitle":[{"@language":"eng","@value":"Ancestral Junctures"}],"bf:subtitle":[{"@language":"eng","@value":"on the expansion of ancestral mythologies"}]}],"dcterms:language":["eng"],"dcterms:type":[{"@type":"skos:Concept","skos:exactMatch":["https:\/\/pid.phaidra.org\/vocabulary\/69ZZ-2KGX"],"skos:prefLabel":[{"@language":"eng","@value":"Text"},{"@language":"deu","@value":"Text"},{"@language":"ita","@value":"Documento PDF"}]}],"ebucore:filename":["Corç George Demir_Ancestral Junctures - on the expansion of ancestral mythologies.pdf"],"ebucore:hasMimeType":["application\/pdf"],"edm:hasType":[{"@type":"skos:Concept","skos:exactMatch":["http:\/\/base.uni-ak.ac.at\/vocabulary\/doctoral_programmes"],"skos:prefLabel":[{"@language":"deu","@value":"Dissertation"},{"@language":"eng","@value":"Dissertation"},{"@language":"ita","@value":"Tesi di dottorato"}]},{"@type":"skos:Concept","skos:exactMatch":["http:\/\/base.uni-ak.ac.at\/vocabulary\/written_component_of_artistic_thesis"],"skos:prefLabel":[{"@language":"deu","@value":"Schriftlicher Teil der künstlerischen Abschlussarbeit"},{"@language":"eng","@value":"Written component of artistic Thesis"},{"@language":"ita","@value":"Parte scritta della tesi artistica"}]}],"edm:rights":["http:\/\/rightsstatements.org\/vocab\/InC\/1.0\/"],"frapo:isOutputOf":[{"@type":"aiiso:Programme","skos:exactMatch":["http:\/\/base.uni-ak.ac.at\/vocabulary\/c_852f24c3"],"skos:prefLabel":[{"@language":"deu","@value":"Doktoratsstudium Künstlerische Forschung (PhD in Art)"},{"@language":"eng","@value":"Artistic Research PhD Programme (PhD in Art)"}]}],"role:advisor":[{"@type":"schema:Person","schema:familyName":[{"@value":"Schabus"}],"schema:givenName":[{"@value":"Hans"}]}],"role:aut":[{"@type":"schema:Person","schema:familyName":[{"@value":"Demir"}],"schema:givenName":[{"@value":"Corç George"}]}]}
