The representation of the main characters is also analysed with regard to the production system of the Hollywood Studios and the Star Cult pictured in the movie. Die Arbeit versucht die Gegensätze zwischen den beiden Hauptcharakteren Norma Desmond (Gloria Swanson) und Joe Gillis (William Holden) im Film Sunset Boulevard (Billy Wilder, 1950) herauszuarbeiten, und mit der im Film enthaltenen Analyse des Produktionssystems der großen Hollywood Studios und des Starkults in Beziehung zu setzen.
