Inhalt der Arbeit „A Visual Meal“ ist eine theoretische Abhandlung der ästhetischen Erfahrungswelt der gehobenen Küche und eine praktische Auseinandersetzung mit Food Fotografie die in einer Fotoserie, bestehend aus 10 Bildern, resultiert. Die theoretische Arbeit dient als Grundlage für die fotografische Umsetzung. In der Arbeit werden Themen wie Kultur und Kulinarik bezüglich sozialer, philosophischer und politischer Kontexte besprochen sowie Essen als ästhetisches Erlebnis untersucht. Gleichzeitig wird die Herangehensweise zu Bildlösungen und die Motivation zur umgesetzten Fotoserie erklärt: So widmet sich der praktische Teil der Arbeit der fotografischen Darstellung von Speisen und Gerichten jenseits vogelperspektivischer Telleransichten.

“A Visual Meal” is a theoretical examination of the aesthetic experience of fine dining and a photo series, consisting of 10 images, about food-photography itself. The thesis serves as a foundation for the concepts of the photographic series and deals with culture and culinary in terms of social, philosophical and political contexts. It examines the visual aspects of fine dining and the different approaches for the photographic execution are explained: hence the photographic solution is depicting food beyond high-angle shots of meals and telling a different visual story about food.
