Strange Fruits

In Strange Fruits setzt sich Maja-Iskra Vilotijevic mit lebensentscheidenden Momenten ihrer Vergangenheit auseinander, die von Abzweigungen und (Aus-)Brüchen geprägt sind. Anfang der 1980er Jahre in Jugoslawien geboren, ist ihr Weg von den politischen Ereignissen bestimmt, die tief in ihr soziales und familiäres Leben reichen. Die Arbeit ist in vier Kapitel unterteilt: Sister, Mother, Father, Brother. Als ein Zusammenspiel von Beklemmung, Wut und Verbundenheit, portraitiert Strange fruits ein individuelles Schicksal, das von kollektiven Erfahrung nicht zu trennen ist.

With Strange fruits Maja-Iskra Vilotijevic deals with the defining moments of her past: the breaks, intersections and the escapes that have shaped her life. Born in the early 80's in Yugoslavia, from childhood her path was strongly influenced by the political and social turmoil in the world around her. Strange fruits is divided into four chapters: Sister, Mother, Father, Brother. The work portrays an individual fate, impossible to distinguish from the collective one, a combination of anger, fear and attachment.
