Der weibliche Körper ist Schauplatz vieler Konzeptionen. Menstruationsblut ist das deutlichste Zeichen seiner Weiblichkeit. Es ist mit Fruchtbarkeit, Vergänglichkeit, Ekel und Weiblichkeitskonzepten verbunden. Im Film wird es zum Kunstprodukt. Menstruation wird als individueller Prozess wahrgenommen und ist dennoch das verbindende Element für Frauen. Das Menstruationstabu wird gebrochen, indem Menstruieren im Kreativitätsdiskurs politisiert wird. Die Verdrängung von Menstruation in Medizin und Konsum wird kritisiert. Kombinierte, symbolische Filmsequenzen betonen den zyklischen, rituellen Charakter von Menstruation. Bildkombinationen eröffnen individuelle Assoziationen. Menstruation wird zum performativen Akt.

The female body is the scene of different concepts. The blood of menstruation is the most obvious sign of femininity. It is related with fertility, transience, disgust and concepts of femininity. In the film Menstruation it becomes a product of art. Menstruation is seen as an individual process and it is still the element that connects women. The taboo of menstruation is broken by the publication of a private subject in the discourse about creativity. The suppression of menstruation in the context of medicine and consumption is criticized. Symbolic sequences are combined to accentuate the cyclic, ritual process of menstruation. The combination of images opens individual associations to the spectator. Menstruation becomes a performative product of art.
